One of the most commonly utilized tools by all movers is the “delivery spread”, which allows a truck hauling several households on one truck, which we all do, the time to operate within a certain set of days and get your belongings to you while keeping it cost-effective. While most customers understand the necessity, it can be a little inconvenient, especially if there are children involved. We understand that inconvenience, and as a result we are one of the only movers in Chicago that hauls 90% of our own moves on our own trucks! Not only does that assure you a top-quality move by our expertly trained staff, but it also cuts down considerably on the amount of time you will wait for delivery. Call us today to see how caring about you can make your move experience so much more pleasant!

Some good advice on moving….
The other day I was at a home doing a survey. The customer was moving from Tinley Park to Orland Park, and they were packing their own things. They asked me what, if any, advice I would give someone based on my experience in the business, and I offered the advice that I give everyone: First, start packing as soon as possible, it will take you MUCH longer than you think, and second, do not try to schedule loading and/or delivery around a real estate closing. Especially in today’s climate, the closings will inevitably get postponed and you will be chargesd for the time the mover is waiting. Give yourself a little cushion by scheduling the move for the day before or after the closing, most parties will agree to this format during scheduling. And, most importantly, make sure to call Stevenson Transfer for all of your move needs! Talk to you next time!
As moving season heats up, here is a great article to read in order to protect yourself against internet movers!
During the course of every estimate I give, I always have to explain why the “amazing price” the client recieved from an online broker really is too good to be true! I found this article on movingscam.com that explains as well as I can how these crooks operate and can make your life miserable and give the rest of us a bad name! In fact, most of them are breaking numerous state and federal laws in the process of getting your belongings from origin to destination — and leaving you liable for any problems that may arise. Remember that in moving, as in everything else, if it seems too good to be true, it is. Always insist on an in-home survey by a reputable moving company such as Stevenson Transfer, and do the research on any mover you are considering hiring. An educated client is the best kind to deal with, as it will make you more comfortable with your choice of movers!

Great web resource for knowing what to look for- and avoid- in choosing a mover!
I recently was reading some articles on the movingscam.com website, and realized it is probably a great resource to share with our clients. It is definitely worth looking through if that estimate you got online seems just a little too good to be true, or if you want to know just what to avoid ahead of time in order to find the best mover for the price. I hope it is a helpful link!
